Back in January, a disturbing story broke regarding New York Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson and authorities in South Florida. The talented receiver was arrested on charges that varied from harm to a public servant/family, reckless driving, eluding police and resisting arrest.
According to Andy Slater of 940 WINZ in Florida, all but one of these charges have been dropped.
According to Slater, a Broward State Attorney spokesperson indicated that “there was a possible discrepancy regarding the initial estimated speed, but there is no doubt that the defendant was driving recklessly.” Slater goes on to note that other charges were not filed “due to insufficient evidence.”
Anderson still faces misdemeanor reckless driving charges.
Given the seriousness of the situation and the alleged threats Anderson made against a police officer’s family, it is interesting that all the major charges were dropped. We’ll obviously have more on this story as it breaks.
