Report: Richard Sherman has said goodbye to Seahawks teammates

Richard Sherman

On the heels of some rather despondent social media posts by a couple of Seattle Seahawks defensive backs, we’re getting word that Richard Sherman has told his teammates he won’t be with them in 2018.

Additionally, Tom Pelissero reports Sherman is set to meet with the Seahawks Wednesday to discuss his future.

For what it’s worth, Sherman reportedly isn’t sure what’s going on.

The Seahawks will save $11 million against the cap by releasing Sherman, which seems to be the only course of action available to them at this time. Sherman recently had another surgery on his Achilles injury, and last week Pete Carroll said he expected Sherman to be ready for training camp. While Sherman has been reportedly dangled as trade bait, he couldn’t be traded at this time as he would not pass a physical.

The former fifth-round pick out of Stanford has had an incredible run with Seattle, if his time is done. Since 2011, he’s posted 368 combined tackles, one sack, 32 interceptions and two defensive touchdowns. He’s made four Pro Bowls and three First-Team All-Pro squads, helping Seattle win a Super Bowl along the way.
