Report: 49ers sign Pro Bowl CB Richard Sherman to a three-year contract

Since being released by the Seattle Seahawks on Friday, it’s been trending in the direction of Pro Bowl cornerback Richard Sherman signing with the division-rival San Francisco 49ers. He had dinner with head coach Kyle Shanahan on Friday night and continued to meet with San Francisco’s brass throughout all of Saturday, taking a physical in the process.

It’s now reportedly done.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the 49ers have signed Sherman to a three-year contract.

The deal is said to be worth $39 million over three seasons with a $5 million signing bonus.

A five-time Pro Bowler, the 29-year-old Sherman is coming off a ruptured Achilles he suffered last season in Seattle. Though, the expectation is that he will be ready for training camp.

This is an absolute coup for the up-and-coming 49ers. The team had been linked to other available corners. And now, it adds a likely future Hall of Famer in Sherman from the division-rival Seahawks.
