Report: Eagles expect Carson Wentz to be ready for Week 1

NFL Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz (11) runs out of the pocket past Washington Redskins defensive tackle Matthew Ioannidis (98) during the first quarter at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Philadelphia Eagles lost second-year quarterback Carson Wentz to a torn ACL in Week 14. After undergoing surgery last Dec. 13, it was recently speculated that Wentz might not necessarily be ready to play in Week 1.

But, a report that emerged Monday brings some encouraging news. According to Peter King of The MMQB, the Eagles now feel confident that Wentz will be ready to play in the the season opener, which takes place on Sept. 6.

This is certainly great news. And it should also have an impact on the Eagles’ ultimate decision to when it comes to potentially trading Super Bowl MVP quarterback Nick Foles. Foles has a significant trade value after his tremendous postseason performances.

As it pertains to Wentz, he more than proved himself throughout his 13 starts in 2017. He helped lead the Eagles to an 11-2 record while he passed for 33 touchdowns versus only seven interceptions last year. He is the real deal and it is awesome that he seems to be on course to play in Week 1.
