In the wake of Ben McAdoo’s firing, it had been reported that Eli Manning would return to his regular job of starting quarterback for the New York Giants. On Wednesday, interim coach Steve Spagnuolo removed any doubt.

Manning was controversially benched in favor of Geno Smith ahead of New York’s Week 13 game against the Oakland Raiders. That ended his consecutive starts streak at 210, which trailed only Brett Favre in NFL history.
The Giants lost and it ended up being McAdoo’s final game as the team’s coach.
