After missing out on his team’s trip to Disneyland and a media event on Friday due to illness, Baker Mayfield is still sick and will not be participating in media day ahead of the Rose Bowl.

Mayfield was able to practice Friday, and he’s been at practice every day ahead of the Rose Bowl. But for whatever reason he’s not been able to get up for these media events. This has led many to speculate, especially given the fact that players and coaches have all pointed back to head coach Lincoln Riley when asked about their quarterback.
“You’d have to talk to Coach (Lincoln) Riley tomorrow about that,” center Erick Wren said Friday, per the Associated Press. “That’s not something I want to hit on today.” Rose Bowl media day, when all the players and coaches from each team are made available to reporters, is Saturday.
Riley told reporters Friday that Mayfield would be good to go Monday when the Oklahoma Sooners take on the Georgia Bulldogs for a chance to play in the national title game.
