Odell Beckham Jr. ‘still limited’ in practice Friday

Fantasy football owners beware: Odell Beckham Jr. isn’t likely to play Monday night when the New York Giants host the Detroit Lions. The injured receiver responded well to treatment, according to head coach Ben McAdoo, but was “still limited” in practice Friday, per James Kratch of NJ Advanced Media.

This isn’t particularly surprising news for folks that have been keeping track of OBJ’s recent comments.

On Thursday he told reporters his ankle injury was a “six-to-eight week” thing, which is a bit of a contrast to what the Giants have been insinuating for a while now. He was to be a game-time decision in Week 1, but it didn’t take long for the receiver to figure out during pre-game warm-ups that he wasn’t going to be able to go.

Making things all the more interesting is a report that Beckham Jr. reportedly got into a dance-off with NBA MVP Russell Westbrook ahead of Week 1’s game against the Dallas Cowboys (more on that here).

If Beckham’s injury really is a six-to-eight week deal, then he’d be looking at missing potentially the first month of the 2017 season. The Giants clearly suffered offensively without the electric playmaker, losing in embarrassing style to their rivals on Sunday Night Football.

With that in mind, OBJ would do well to abstain from any dance battles from now until whenever he is ready to play. Otherwise Big Blue could suffer some season-long blues and miss the playoffs altogether after being humbled last year in the wild card round by the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
