Marshawn Lynch film to premiere at Oakland Film Festival Thursday night

We already know that Marshawn Lynch will likely be playing for the Oakland Raiders next season. He reportedly met with the team on Wednesday and has indicated his willingness to un-retire and play for his home-town squad in 2017.

What a lot of people don’t know is just how entrenched in the Oakland community the former CAL star has been and remains to be.

Now, Lynch will premiere his first featured film from Beast Mode Productions in Oakland on Thursday night. It’s something that has been in the works for a while and promises to bring varying opinions from those who decide to watch it.

According to The Wrap, the film is titled A Hundred Blocks and has a specific storyline.

“A Hundred Blocks,” which features a cast and crew drawn entirely from the Bay Area’s film scene, follows the life of Jaleel, a young man trying to find his way in Oakland, California, as his life — and those of his friends and family members — become increasingly entangled with the city’s police department and political leaders,” the report read.

Those who are from Oakland take a certain pride in the city. They are loyal to the community. And Lynch himself is no different. His first film represents this to a T. It also displays the oftentimes unfortunate circumstances those within the community are forced to live through.

It will surely be interesting to see what comes of this project. If the trailer is any indication, it might very well be a powerful movie.
