It could mean nothing. Or it could mean everything. According to former NFL punter Pat McAffee, now with Barstool Sports, retired running back Marshawn Lynch is currently at Oakland Raiders facilities chatting it up with the organization he reportedly would love to join for the 2017 NFL season.

This report was confirmed by NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

As far as McAfee is concerned, this means the union between the two parties is imminent.

“I have a pal from Oakland who just told me that Beast Mode is officially in the Raiders practice facility chatting with team officials,” McAfee wrote. “The dream union of The Oakland Raiders and Marshawn Lynch is right on the f– fringe of happening.”

On the surface of things, it seems like you very clear indication that Lynch does indeed want to join the Raiders as previously has been reported.

However, recently Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider made it clear that the rumors surrounding Lynch we’re more smoke than fire. Lynch remains a member of the Seahawks organization, and if he were to play this year he is due $9 million. Seattle would either need to trade lynch to the Raiders or release him outright.

That being said, if Lynch were to join the Raiders somehow, it would give this team a very good chance to compete at the highest level in the AFC playoffs should they make it that far in 2017. We will be watching this situation closely to see what develops.
