Joe Flacco will be active Sunday against Jets

Joe Flacco

The Baltimore Ravens will almost certainly have Joe Flacco on the field Sunday when they take on the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.

As noted by Jamison Hensley of ESPN, the Ravens did not promote David Fales from the practice squad and will have Flacco active for the game.

Flacco missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday but was back at it on Friday, which is a good sign he’ll play. The Ravens have officially listed their starting quarterback as “questionable,” but that doesn’t mean as much as it used to considering there is no longer a “probable” designation for teams to use.

This upcoming game is a critical one for both the Ravens and Jets. Baltimore has lost three straight to fall to 3-3, while New York is on a four-game skid and is 1-5 on the year.

Needless to say, the Ravens’ offense is better when Flacco is on the field, rather than Ryan Mallett, who is his backup. If the veteran gunslinger is able to make throws and take hits, he’ll be out there even if his shoulder is still sore.

Unfortunately, he won’t likely be throwing the ball to Steve Smith Sr., who is doubtful to play with an ankle injury.
