The Green Bay Packers will forge ahead without running back Eddie Lacy, who was reportedly placed on the IR with an ankle injury, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.
The ankle injury suffered a couple weeks ago turned out to be more than just a simple sprain. Surgery is now needed to repair the damage.

This comes on the heels of a report by ESPN that Lacy had gotten back to the 255-265-pound range this year after trimming down before the season began.
The Packers are also without James Starks for at least the short term. This means newly acquired running back Knile Davis should receive a ton of work early on in his Packers career.
For Lacy, this injury and report of being overweight again likely spells the end of his tenure with the Packers. He is going to be a free agent after this season, and at this point it looks like the former Alabama star is turning out to be a big bust after a couple of good years with Green Bay.
