Report: Packers RB James Starks out ‘a couple weeks’ after surgery

The Green Bay Packers will be without veteran running back James Starks for “a couple weeks” after he underwent surgery on his knee.

This could present a bit of trouble for the already struggling Packers’ offense. Eddie Lacy has been the workhorse so far this season, but he’s dealing with an ankle injury right now as well.

Green Bay’s normally potent offense has been dismal to this point in 2016, ranking No. 31 overall in total yards and No. 21 on the ground.

With Lacy potentially hobbling and Starks out of the lineup for a couple weeks, the Packers are going to be scrambling to find consistent production from their running game.

This means the offense will likely become even more one-dimensional. In years past, this was not such a bad thing. But Aaron Rodgers ranks among the league’s worst when it comes to completion percentage and yards per attempt.

Yuck.

The one redeeming aspect to the passing game is that Rodgers has nine touchdowns to just three interceptions.

It’s going to be interesting to see what happens Sunday afternoon when Green Bay hosts the Dallas Cowboys.
