Brandon Harris benched after dreadful start for LSU

Playing without Leonard Fournette against Jacksonville State, one would expect the LSU Tigers to still dominate. That wasn’t the case early on Saturday evening, as quarterback Brandon Harris was atrocious to open the game.

At one point, Harris overthrew his wide open receiver so badly on a quick out route that the ball sailed into the bench area on the sideline. Inaccuracy was a troublesome aspect of his game last year, and we saw it again last week.

Not surprisingly, head coach Les Miles pulled Harris, inserting Purdue transfer Danny Etling.

It didn’t take long for Etling to make his mark. He threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to receiver DeSean Smith not long after taking his first snap with the Tigers.

After the extra point was blocked, LSU led by just three points, 6-3.

Given how the offense was immediately sparked by Etling, one wonders if Harris will get another shot this year, barring injury.
