So, remember that rumor that Jared Goff is a lock for the No. 1 overall pick, owned by the Los Angeles Rams? Consider it squashed. According to Rand Getlin of NFL Network, Carson Wentz will be in Los Angeles the next few days to visit with the franchise.
Perhaps this is why the Cleveland Browns are supposedly shopping the No. 2 overall pick. Maybe they actually like Wentz and know the Rams do, too. Perhaps they actually don’t love Jared Goff and are willing to trade back, pick up more selections and roll with Robert Griffin III. Maybe they are actually the ones behind all the rumors that L.A. is going to take Goff at the top.
After all, Goff is visiting with the San Francisco 49ers, who are currently at No. 7. Trent Baalke would likely be thrilled to land a quarterback who many believe is a perfect fit for Chip Kelly’s fast-paced offense.
The fact that Wentz is going to be visiting with the Rams “over the next few days” suggests there is more than just a passing interest in the young man as the future face of the new-look franchise.
There is a lot of intrigue going on right now with that top pick. Either way, it’s going to be a quarterback, given the outrageous haul the Rams gave up to land it.
