A player for the XFL’s Orlando Guardians was reportedly suspended this week after rumors spread that the backup quarterback gave an opposing team his playbook.

The XFL has gotten off to a rocky start this season. After three years away, the spring professional football league was restarted this year under the ownership of Hollywood superstar and WWE legend, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. After two weeks, XFL television ratings have left a lot to be desired and football fans have not been filling up arenas for the league’s games.

Well, on Thursday it seems that the league and the Orlando Guardians franchise were rocked by damning rumors of a major violation of competitive play. Word around the league, and from BroBible’s Dov Kleiman claimed that Guardians QB Quinten Dormady had allowed an opposing team to view his playbook. A major no-no in all sports circles.

Following an internal investigation, the team reportedly cut the former Tennessee, Houston, and Central Michigan alum. However, that is not where the story ended.

After being questioned about the rumors of Dormady’s release, the XFL released a statement that claimed the QB had been reinstated and they were undergoing their own investigation into the allegations.

“The league is actively reviewing a personnel issue regarding a player on the Orlando Guardians who was released from the team yesterday afternoon. Additional information on the situation was brought to the attention of the league overnight, and the league has reinstated the player while it conducts a formal investigation into the issue. The situation is under review, and we will share more details regarding the findings as appropriate.”

The Orlando Guardians have been by far the worst team during this latest season of the league. The team is 0-2 and was blown out in their games this season versus the Houston Roughnecks (33-12) and San Antonio Brahmas (30-12). The fact that the team’s playbook may have been shared makes those losses seem even more interesting.
