This evening, WWE returns to Peacock for a brand new edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. The Nov. 1 card features just four bouts, and all of them will have gold on the line.
In the evening’s main event, CM Punk will look to become a two-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion when he faces Jey Uso for the vacant title. Also, WWE Undisputed champ Cody Rhodes will defend his gold a second time against his current rival, Drew McIntyre.
WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Predictions: Will CM Punk Reach the Mountaintop Once Again?
Below, you can get a roundup of all the results, top highlights, and grades for each matchup.
Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Drew McIntyre — WWE Championship
Rhodes vs. McIntyre was a solid match. Nothing special, with the best moments being when they made use of the possibility that the champ could lose via DQ or countout. In the end, he won with some help from the title belt that was brought into the ring by the challenger. The big story from the match is the possibility that Rhodes may have a legit and serious knee injury after his right one seemed to buckle during a Cody-cutter attempt.
- Winner: Cody Rhodes
- Grade: C+
Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jade Cargill — WWE Women’s Championship
This was a predictable title change at Saturday Night’s Main Event, but one that was done well. Heading into the bout, Tiffany Stratton was dealing with a “knee injury,” and the challenger was able to get under her skin. With the champ compromised, Cargill was booked in a way she should be, and for the most part, she dominated her way to win her first singles championship in WWE.
- Winner: Jade Cargill
- Grade: B-
Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. Penta vs. Rusev — Intercontinental Championship
The clash between Dominik Mysterio, Rusev, and Penta was very entertaining because they are a good mix of styles and characters. Each star had moments, and Rusev nearly making a kid pee themselves at ringside was a hilarious moment. After a hard-fought battle, Mysterio again grew his legend by finding yet another way to snake his way out of a tough situation and hold on to the Intercontinental strap.
- Winner: Dominick Mysterio
- Grade: B
WWE Reveals How John Cena’s Final Opponent Will Be Decided
As was rumored a month ago, WWE made it official that a 16-man tournament featuring talent from Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and outside the company will decide who faces John Cena in his retirement match next month.
CM Punk vs. Jey Uso — World Heavyweight Championship
Punk and Uso put on a solid closing match to the Nov. 1 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. It was not a five-star classic, but it wasn’t a boring match either. The end was very well done and filled with great near falls. In the end, the “Best in the World” used a pair of GTSs to turn away Uso and become a seven-time world champion.
- Winner: CM Punk
- Grade: C+
Nov. 1 Saturday Night’s Main Event Grade
The Nov. 1 edition of SNME was only four matches long and lasted just two hours. The event as a whole was solid, and every match was solid to good. The biggest negative about the card was that there were no surprises. What you probably thought the results would be ended up being the finished product. It wasn’t a bad event, but not a must-see either.
- Grade: C+
