An intriguing new WrestleMania 42 rumor may open the door for a rare double turn of two popular WWE stars.
With the 2026 edition of the Elimination Chamber now in the rearview, no major stops are remaining on the road to WrestleMania 42. With just under seven weeks left before the April two-night extravaganza, there are a lot of rumors swirling about the matches yet to be set for the event.
On Tuesday, BodySlam.net offered up a new one. The outlet reports the WWE creative has had discussions about a match between Trick Williams and Sami Zayn at Wrestlemania. The booking would make sense since the two have had multiple heated clashes since the former officially became a member of the SmackDown roster early in January.
While the booking makes sense, it could also involve a pro wrestling rarity, a double turn.
Could Trick Williams and Sami Zayn both turn at WrestleMania 42?

The most famous and best orchestrated double turn occurred at WrestleMania 13. WWE icons Bret Hart and Steve Austin were bitter rivals at the time. Entering the bout, Hart was the hero while Austin was the villain. However, “Stone Cold” was getting strong reactions from fans despite his evil deeds up until that point.
Following a classic match where Austin lost by submission but never quit, he emerged as a new babyface. Hart would move to the dark side and begin a run as a heel. Zayn and Williams’ situation mirrors that of Hart and Austin’s in ways.
Williams is getting hugely positive reactions from fans despite currently being a heel. Zayn has shown signs of frustration of late after failing to become WWE champion at the Royal Rumble. There have been rumors that WWE is considering a turn for Williams, and the storytelling for Zayn sure makes it seem like he could be headed to the dark side, just like Hart did after WrestleMania 13.
It all sets the stage for something WWE fans have not seen in close to 30 years, and a double turn from two notable stars at the biggest event of the year.
