On the latest edition of WWE SmackDown, fan-favorite Danhausen was officially added to next weekend’s Backlash premium live event. However, it comes with a caveat. Before his tag match with The Miz and Kit Wilson is official, he must find a partner.
While Danhausen has dealt out quite a few curses since arriving in WWE three months ago, he has not necessarily made any obvious friends. With that in mind, here are a few ideas for who could emerge as his mystery partner at Backlash.
Oba Femi

One star WWE fans wouldn’t expect is RAW talent Oba Femi. However, that is what makes it so perfect. “The Ruler” who decimated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42, being paired up with the “very nice and very evil” one would be a sight to behold. Furthermore, seeing the two hottest new stars in the company would also be a ton of fun.
Miz and Wilson getting destroyed by Femi after beating Danhausen down on SmackDown would further add to the lore of their curses.
Carmelo Hayes

Carmelo Hayes has history with the Miz after he was mentored by the “Awesome” WWE legend last year. Considering how Miz is serving as a mentor to Wilson and has declined to do the same for Danhausen, Hayes getting involved in the storyline, temporarily, fits. Plus, he would add another talented performer to the match.
Rey Fenix

For the role of Danhausen’s mystery partner, WWE could choose to use a performer who has not gotten much TV time of late. That is why Rey Fenix could be an option.
The two worked in AEW at the same time, and that could be used as the link for why the luchador gets involved in the match. It would also be a chance to showcase Fenix and get him a much-needed win in one of the more notable moments on the show.
Shinsuke Nakamura

Another option to get a performer who has been underutilized back on TV in a fun storyline is Shinsuke Nakamura. The Japanese great has been relegated to backstage moments for the most part over the last couple of years. This would be a hilarious and completely unexpected way to get him back in the ring. Plus, the idea of a Danhausen and Nakamura friendship after this is fascinating.
CM Punk

It is no secret that Danhausen and former World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk have a friendship. From their time together in AEW. Up to now, in WWE, they have done many videos together for socials that showcase their fun chemistry. Furthermore, reports emerged in February that Punk played a huge role in getting Danhausen into the company.
Punk doesn’t have a match at Backlash. Making a stunning appearance to help Danhausen, of all people, would be a great addition to the event.
