There are no questions about where Caleb Williams will be playing football in 2024. But Jayden Daniels? That’s a different story.
The Heisman-winning quarterback is projected to be a top-three pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but is he landing with Washington, New England, or an outside-the-box team like Minnesota or Las Vegas? Jayden Daniels’ landing spot is one of the most discussed NFL draft rumors around, and his former head coach may have just provided the biggest hint yet.
LSU coach Brian Kelly on Jayden Daniels.

For Washington? Did you catch that?
It would be another story if this was the former Washington Huskies coach discussing Michael Penix Jr., like as if he accidentally mentioned his former college. But that’s not what this is. Daniels has zero ties to Washington.
Of course, Washington has the second overall pick, and if they’ve already made it known to Daniels that he’s their preferred pick, it would be understandable if the LSU QB relayed that information to his former coach, who has no skin in the game at this point.
Still, is Kelly really that dumb? He knows how big of a deal the NFL Draft is; he’s had several players go through the process, and Daniels is simply the latest top prospect.
Did Kelly reveal what NFL team Daniels is joining, or where in the world did the Washington bit come from? For now it’s just an interesting footnote as experts continue trying to predict where the top quarterback prospects are drafted. Yet, if Daniels does get drafted second overall to the Washington Commanders, our first thought will come back to Kelly’s possible slip-up.
For other teams hoping to land Daniels, this clip has to be a bit of a disappointment, but again, it could mean nothing at all.
