Week 10 fantasy rankings: Best, QB, RB, WR and TEs to start, sit

We’re past the halfway point of the 2023 NFL season, meaning we have more data points and film to put together our Week 10 fantasy rankings. As always, we’ll provide analysis and fantasy football advice for some of the top players at each position.

Unfortunately for fantasy managers, Week 10 is just as devastating with bye weeks as Week 9. We’ll have to make do without the Kansas City Chiefs (Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes), Miami Dolphins (Tua Tagovailoa, Raheem Mostert, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle), Los Angeles Rams (Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua) and Philadelphia Eagles (Jalen Hurts, D’Andre Swift, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith) this weekend when setting lineups.

Fantasy QB rankings Week 10

Fantasy analysis and our matchup previews for each of our top 15 quarterbacks will come Monday.

1. Joe Burrow, Bengals – Joe Burrow is back to full health, Sunday Night Football was the latest proof of the fact. Now, he takes on a Texans’ secondary that has allowed a 102.3 QB rating, 70% completion rate and 280.8 pass ypg in the last four weeks.
2. Josh Allen, Bills – The Denver Broncos defense has really improved as of late – 3-5 TD-INT, 82.5 QB rating allowed (4 games) – but Josh Allen and the Bills’ offense is still explosive. Plus, Allen could take advantage of a leaky Broncos’ run defense.
3. Lamar Jackson, Ravens – The last time Lamar Jackson faced Cleveland, he rushed for two touchdowns and had a 142.5 QB rating with two more scores through the air. We’re not saying that’ll be replicated in Week 10, it just demonstrated Jackson’s success against a great defense.
4. Geno Smith, Seahawks – Yes, Geno Smith is having problems with protecting the football. However, he faced two of the NFL’s top defenses. In Week 10, Smith can rebound against a Commanders’ secondary that has allowed a 100.8 QB rating and 277.5 pass ypg with 15 passing touchdowns since Week 4.
5. Justin Herbert, Chargers – Chargers’ offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is starting to get this passing game going, although, it’ll be even more difficult with Joshua Palmer now on IR. Still, Herbert’s physical tools and the likelihood of the Chargers’ defense giving up 30 points means there will be a lot of chances for Herbert to stockpile fantasy points
6. Jared Goff, Lions – We typically wouldn’t have Jared Goff this high in our fantasy QB rankings on the road, but he’s facing the NFL’s worst pass defense. For context, opponents average nearly 300 passing yards per game with a 95-plus QB rating versus Los Angeles.
7. C.J. Stroud, Texans – It’s officially time to recognize C.J. Stroud as one of the best, young quarterbacks in the NFL. We clearly expect this game to be a shootout, which elevates Stroud from a top-10 option to the seventh-best QB in Week 10.
8. Dak Prescott, Cowboys – There won’t be MVP buzz after a loss, but Dak Prescott has a 125.3 QB rating with a 72% completion rate and is averaging 3.5 touchdowns per game over the last three weeks. Plus, the Giants are an awful football team.
9. Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars – The concern with Trevor Lawrence stems from the risk of the 49ers’ defense. If San Francisco comes out of the bye with its issues fixed, this pass rush could dominate Jacksonville in the trenches. There’s a wide risk-reward spectrum with Lawrence, resulting in him being a few spots lower in the fantasy QB rankings than normal.
10. Russell Wilson, Broncos – In his last five games, Russell Wilson has a 103.6 QB rating with 10 passing touchdowns and he’s tacked on a 28.8 rush ypg average on top of that. He’s facing a Buffalo defense that has allowed a 7-0 TD-INT line and 102 QB rating in its last five contests.
11. Sam Howell, Commanders – Washington is getting better at protecting Sam Howell and the second-year quarterback is getting Jahan Dotson more involved. Those two factors alone ensure he can be a top-15 fantasy quarterback most weeks and he’s an even better option with several All-Pro passers on a bye.
12. Brock Purdy, 49ers – Even with the recent interception woes, Brock Purdy has 637 passing yards and a 70.5% completion rate in his last two contests. Plus, the 49ers’ offense is getting healthier. Don’t expect MVP play, but Purdy can be an above-average starter.
13. Kyler Murray, Cardinals – In his first game back since his ACL tear in December 2022, we’ll exercise caution with Kyler Murray. Once he proves he’s back at full health, however, Murray becomes a top-10 fantasy quarterback ROS.
14. Derek Carr, Saints – Derek Carr looks a lot healthier now, compiling 521 passing yards with four touchdowns and a completion rate over 70 percent in the last two weeks. There’s no sky-high ceiling, but Carr’s floor makes him an ideal bye-week fill-in fantasy starter.
15. Will Levis, Titans – Tampa Bay has the worst pass defense in the NFL over the last three games. Meanwhile, Tennessee has proven it’s willing to let Will Levis air it out. This is what we call a recipe made in heaven for fantasy managers and DFS players.
16. Baker Mayfield, Buccaneers – Speaking of Tampa Bay, its only path to staying competitive with this current defense is getting into high-scoring battles. While Baker Mayfield hasn’t been great, he gets the football to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. While this might come as a shock to Falcons’ coach Arthur Smith, targeting your best playmakers is the best path to scoring points.

Fantasy running back rankings Week 10

1. Christian McCaffrey, 49ers – While Christian McCaffrey lands atop the fantasy RB rankings, it comes with a note of caution. The Jaguars’ defense is holding opponents to 79.3 rush ypg this season and just 3.6 yards per carry. Now, McCaffrey has often proven to be matchup-proof, but he might not be as effective on the ground as fantasy managers are accustomed to.
2. Travis Etienne, Jaguars – Speaking of elite fantasy RBs with tough matchups, Travis Etienne will take the field against a 49ers’ defense that allows just 86.1 rush ypg with only four rushing touchdowns allowed in eight contests. The hope, of course, is that Etienne makes San Francisco look more like the unit that allowed 122.7 rush ypg in its last three contests before the bye.
3. Breece Hall, Jets – From Weeks 4-9, Las Vegas allowed 4.6 ypc, 144.3 rush ypg and 1.3 rush TDs per game. Even with a new coach, Las Vegas surrendered 4.9 ypc. Breece Hall has a fantastic opportunity for a monster day in Week 10.
4. Jonathan Taylor, Colts – Jonathan Taylor is back working with a heavy share of the workload and that’s all fantasy managers wanted. While he did struggle against Carolina, the Patriots have allowed 120-plus rushing yards four times this season and opponents have run for a touchdown in three straight games.
5. Austin Ekeler, Chargers – The saving grace for Austin Ekeler this coming week might be his pass-catching prowess. That’s because Detroit has allowed just six rushing scores in eight contests and opponents average just 3.7 ypc against the Lions’ front seven.
6. Tony Pollard, Cowboys – There’s no escaping how much of a fantasy disappointment Tony Pollard has been this season. This is a prime get-right spot. The New York Giants were just decimated on the ground by Josh Jacobs and the Cowboys’ offensive line is far superior to those who blocked for Jacobs.
7. Kenneth Walker III, Seahawks – Walker has become more of a matchup-dependent RB1 and facing the Browns and then Ravens in consecutive weeks demonstrated that. While we are more counting on Seattle to use Washington’s defense as a rebound spot for Geno Smith, Walker can find the end zone and give you 60-plus scrimmage yards.
8. Saquon Barkley, Giants – Fantasy managers with Saquon Barkley need to just keep him in the lineup and check the box score after the game. Brian Dabool rightfully doesn’t trust Tommy DeVito, which means a massive workload for Barkley. That volume is what will sustain his fantasy value.
9. Alvin Kamara, Saints – Kamara saw a season-low in touches last Sunday, but his five-game stretch before that suggests that’s more of an outlier. Assuming Kamara receives 15-20 touches, he’s a back-end RB1 against a Minnesota defense allowing 102.6 rush ypg.
10. Josh Jacobs, Raiders – The Raiders offensive line isn’t any better than it was before, but Josh Jacobs is benefitting from the coaching change. Las Vegas might not win, but Jacobs can take advantage of a Jets’ front seven that allows 4.3 ypc and 144.9 rush ypg through its first seven contests.
11. James Cook, Bills – Cook only makes it as a low-end RB1 this weekend because of bye weeks and this matchup. While the Broncos’ pass defense has greatly improved, it still allowed over 5 ypc in October.
12. Bijan Robinson, Falcons – Blame Arthur Smith. There’s no logic behind how the Falcons’ offense is using Bijan Robinson. With a head coach who wasn’t always trying to prove a point, Robinson would be a top-5 running back. Instead, Falcons fans and fantasy managers must settle for a lot less.
13. Javonte Willams, Broncos – Before entering the by, Javonte Williams averaged 4.2 ypc and 73 rush ypg, receiving 17.3 carries per contest. Buffalo’s run defense has been a lone bright spot in recent weeks, but Williams’ volume still makes him a high-end fantasy starter.
14. Aaron Jones, Packers – Matt LaFleur vowed to get Aaron Jones more involved in Week 9, leading to 24 total touches. While Pittsburgh doesn’t surrender many rushing touchdowns – five in 8 games – it does allow 4.5 ypc and 133.1 rush ypg.
15. David Montgomery, Lions – David Montgomery is expected to return in Week 10, leading to a very complicated Lions’ backfield situation. We don’t expect Detroit to rely on Montgomery as much as they did before, but the coaching staff still loves him and he’s proven to be extremely effective.
16. Joe Mixon, Bengals – Averaging just 3.6 yards per carry over the last four games, Mixon has demonstrated why the Bengals considered moving on from him this offseason. Still, he’s the main ball carrier in Cincinnati and 15-plus carries against the Texans’ defense (10 rushing TDs allowed) makes him an RB2.
17. Derrick Henry, Titans – For as bad as Tampa Bay has been against the pass in the last month, it is allowing just 3.6 yards per carry with 2 rushing touchdowns in the last five games. For Derrick Henry’s fantasy managers, he has become an RB2.
18. Jahmyr Gibbs, Lions – Gibbs is easily one of the most explosive and versatile running backs in the NFL, but there are still some things Detroit prefers Montgomery does for their backfield. When both are healthy, they are fantasy RB2s and that will be the case unless one takes full control.
19. Rhamondre Stevenson, Patriots – From Weeks 6-9, Rhamodnre Stevenson averaged 5.4 yards per carry and 7.53 yards per reception. We understood why the New England Patriots used Ezekiel Elliott early in the year, but now the overcommitment to this committee is just getting in the way.
20. Rachaad White, Buccaneers – Touchdowns saved Rachaad White’s day in Week 9. In his last six games, he’s averaged only 3.4 yards per carry and 44.3 rush ypg. You can do worse as a low-end RB2, but fantasy managers would also be settling.

Fantasy wide receiver rankings Week 10

1. Ja’Marr Chase, Bengals – As Ja’Marr Chase said, he is “alive”, but there are real questions about his availability for Week 1 due to a back injury. If he’s out, Tee Higgins becomes a top-5 play.
2. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Lions – Don’t let MNF fool you, the Chargers’ pass defense remains the worst in the NFL. The bye week provided Amon-Ra St. Brown with time to rest and that time off should lead to an explosive performance.
3. CeeDee Lamb, Cowboys – CeeDee Lamb voiced his displeasure with his lack of targets in an offense that needed a spark. In the last three games, he’s turned 37 targets into 466 receiving yards with a 15.53 yards per reception average. He’s now an elite fantasy wide receiver moving forward.
4. Stefon Diggs, Bills – As we mentioned with Allen, Denver’s defense is faring much better as of late and they have an outstanding cornerback in Patrick Surtain II. Even knowing that, Allen will force-feed targets to Diggs and he only needs a few of those splash plays for a nice fantasy day.
5. Brandon Aiyuk, 49ers – Brandon Aiyuk has three 100-plus yard games this season and three additional contests with 55-plus receiving yards. San Francisco should look to throw more as it faces a top-five run defense and Aiyuk is one of the best, young receivers in football.
6. DK Metcalf, Seahawks – A streak of four consecutive games under 70 receiving yards will come to an end in Week 10. Not only does Washington make a lot of mistakes in coverage, it also doesn’t have the bodies to stick with Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
7. Chris Olave, Saints – Minnesota’s strength on defense certainly isn’t its secondary and with Chris Olave working in the short-and-intermediate areas, he could become the favored target for Derek Carr when the Vikings’ blitz. Olave would typically be a high-end WR2, but bye weeks pushed him up.
8. Mike Evans, Buccaneers – We’re banking on a lot of points in the Titans vs Buccaneers game, especially when examining Tennessee’s secondary. With Tampa Bay’s offensive line holding up well in pass protection, Mayfield should have plenty of chances to target Evans deep.
9. Keenan Allen, Chargers – After a rough stretch in the early weeks without Mike Williams, the Los Angeles Chargers have found new ways to get Keenan Allen the football. Los Angeles will need to put up 28-plus points to beat Detroit, meaning there’ll be a lot of looks for Allen.
10. Deebo Samuel, 49ers – For now, we’re anticipating Deebo Samuel returns in Week 10 after coming out of the bye. His absence showcased how important he is to not just the 49ers’ offense, but Brock Purdy especially.
11. Calvin Ridley, Jaguars – Calvin Ridley has proven to be a volatile option in fantasy this year, but NFL teams coming out of the bye week typically tend to try and get their playmakers involved. When the 49ers’ pass rush isn’t creating pressure, Ridley can find holes in San Francisco’s secondary.
12. Davante Adams, Raiders – A new coaching staff and quarterback didn’t change Davante Adams’ fantasy output. He remains a top-5 receiver in the NFL, but we have to account for his drastically lowered floor in this offense.
13. DeAndre Hopkins, Texans – With Will Levis allowed to rip it and the Buccaneers’ secondary making every quarterback they’ve faced in the last three weeks look like an MVP candidate, DeAndre Hopkins could have his best performance of the season on Sunday.
14. Tyler Lockett, Seahawks – Just like with Metcalf, we have high expectations for Lockett and the Seahawks’ passing game against a Commanders’ secondary that has surrendered 15 passing touchdowns since Week 4.
15. Amari Cooper, Browns – Baltimore has one of the best pass defenses in the NFL and it leads the league in sacks. Those factors mean fewer deep shots for Amari Cooper and the likelihood that his fantasy ceiling is lowered in Week 10.
16. Tee Higgins, Bengals – The slow start to the year and a rib injury are now behind Tee Higgins. He’s already an elite WR2 and can shine as the No. 1 receiver in Cincinnati if Chase is inactive.
17. Drake London, Falcons – Even with Smith calling the plays and a below-average quarterback throwing him the football, Drake London has still averaged 78 receiving yards per game in his last four starts and the Cardinals’ secondary is one of the worst in football.
18. D.J. Moore, Bears – With Justin Fields trending towards a Week 10 return, we’ll take all of the shares of DJ Moore that we can in a revenge game against the team that traded him away.
19. Garrett Wilson, Jets – Garrett Wilson almost certainly isn’t providing fantasy managers with a touchdown, but his averages of 6.8 receptions and 76.8 receiving yards per game at least make him a surefire WR2 each week.
20. Terry McLaurin, Commanders – The sudden emergence of Jahan Dotson has taken a little of the shine away from Terry McLaurin. However, there’s no question he is still WR1 in the Commanders’ offense and even in a tough matchup against a quality Seahawks’ secondary, McLaurin should deliver 60-plus yards.
