Notre Dame Fighting Irish freshman defensive back Kyle Hamilton caught the eyes of coaches throughout the summer with his stellar play. Now the playing time he earned is turning to production on the field and the first pick-six of his collegiate career.

The 6-foot-4 defensive back showed off NFL-caliber instincts and quick reactions on Saturday. He quickly picked up on the deflected pass and jumped in front of the receiver to snag the ball then cruised into the end zone for the 34-yard touchdown.

Hamilton offers the size to be a tremendous defensive back at the collegiate level and it seems he also has the athleticism and instincts required to be a great at the position. On a day when Notre Dame’s offense started slow, a freshman defensive back provided the Fighting Irish with the spark they needed.
