WATCH: Mike Trout ties for MLB HR lead

Mike Trout can hit the ball far. Mike Trout can hit the ball long. Mike Trout is the best player in MLB today.

Cleveland Indians pitcher Mike Clevinger found that out first hand against the Los Angeles Angels star Friday evening.

In just the second at-bat of the game, Trout took a 96 mph fast ball deep over the left field fence for his 36th homer of the season. That matches Christian Yelich for the MLB lead.

The ball itself was absolutely pounded with an exit velocity of 109 mph. It’s almost impossible to hit a ball any harder than that.

Trout has just been absurdly good once again this season.

He entered Friday’s action hitting .295 while leading the AL in homers (35), RBI (86), walks (84), OBP (.438), slugging (.656) and OPS (1.094).

Still only 27 years old, Trout is well on his way to earning a third AL MVP award.
