Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is among the best players at his position in NFL history. He earned the regular-season NFL MVP as a sophomore back in 2018 before winning the Super Bowl MVP this past February.
Needless to say, Mahomes’ normally doesn’t find himself on the wrong end of a highlight-reel play. He’s usually the one making the highlights. That was not the case early on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.

WATCH: Patrick Mahomes with worst play of his career
Facing a third down and 12 in the first quarter, pass protection broke down in front of Patrick Mahomes. As he has done throughout his career, the quarterback attempted to scramble out of it. To say this didn’t go swimmingly would be an understatement.
Yes, you just witnessed Patrick Mahomes take a 30-yard sack. That’s impressively bad. We’re not sure what the plan was. Perhaps, Mahomes was attempting to reach his own end zone and launch the ball down the field 100 yards. He could probably do it, too.
Unfortunately for Mahomes and his Chiefs, Miami scored a touchdown on its very next possession to take a 7-0 lead. This came after the quarterback opened Sunday’s Week 14 NFL game against the Dolphins having thrown just his third interception of the season and his first against a team not named the Las Vegas Raiders.
