Washington Football Team’s Curtis Samuel, Greg Stroman open camp on PUP list

On the first day of its training camp, the Washington Football Team placed wide receiver Curtis Samuel and cornerback Greg Stroman on the physically unable to perform list.

Among other moves, Washington also placed tackle Cornelius Lucas on the COVID-19 list and safety Deshazor Everett and defensive tackle Tim Settle on the “non-football illness list.”

Samuel was Washington’s biggest free-agent signing of the spring, earning a three-year, $34.5 million contract. In his first four NFL seasons playing for the Carolina Panthers, Samuel had 185 receptions for 2,087 yards and 14 touchdowns plus five rushing touchdowns in 53 games (32 starts).

A groin injury kept Samuel out of his first minicamp with Washington, and it’s believed to be the same reason he is starting camp on the PUP list.

Stroman, a seventh-round draft pick by Washington in 2018, has only played in five games across the last two seasons after 15 in his rookie year. He has 38 tackles, one forced fumble and one interception as a pro.
