The process for a potential Washington Commanders sale has reportedly hit an impasse with majority owner Daniel Snyder setting his asking price at a record number.
After an offseason filled with investigations, and then early season rumors of fellow NFL owners possibly taking the steps to force Snyder out as the top boss of the Washington Commanders, the team eventually began the process of a sale in November.
Once the team hit the market, several billionaires and consortiums of wealthy individuals– including Amazon overlord Jeff Bezos — were speculated as potential buyers. A month after the franchise hired Bank of America to oversee a possible sale, the interested parties placed their final bids to purchase the Washington Commanders.

However, since December there has been little word about a winning bid and the next steps in a potential sale. It seems there is a very specific reason, and it has to do with no offer coming close to the astronomical asking price that Daniel Snyder has set.
Top Washington Commanders sale bid nearly a billion short of reported asking price
On Wednesday, Front Office Sports gave an update on the Washington Commanders sale situation, and lack of news. Well, it seems that it has been quiet on that front because “Snyder appears to be holding out for a $7 billion bid for the franchise.”
The outlet added that the highest reported bid is believed to be $6.3 million, which is close to a billion less than the alleged asking price. While $7 billion is still well shy of the grand sale hope the team originally had ($8 billion), it would still be the most in sports history and $1.6 billion more than what the Denver Broncos went for last year.
The one person who would certainly have the funds to reach the $7 billion number with ease is Bezos. However, Snyder is reportedly no fan of the Washington Post owner and would prefer he not put in a bid for the team.
