Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry will be out for some time after suffering a sprained right ankle against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night.

While the X-rays and MRI Curry received following the ugly-looking injury came back negative, he’s expected to be out at least the next two weeks.

Now, it looks like that timeline might be a bit conservative. According to head coach Steve Kerr, Curry showed up to Wednesday’s practice wearing a walking boot.

That’s most definitely not good news for those who had hoped Curry might be able to return some time this month.

After the two-time MVP injured his ankle late Monday night, he could be seen heading to the X-ray room in crutches. At the vert least, according to Kerr, he was able to ditch those crutches.

Boasting a 19-6 record on the season, Golden State can play it close to the vest with Curry. Pure conjecture here, but we’re not expecting him back for at least a month.

With a soft schedule over the next two-plus weeks, that might not impact the Warriors’ hopes of earning the No. 1 seed in defense of their title. But it’s something to keep an eye on moving forward.
