Vontaze Burfict suspension lifted, per NFL transaction wire

Vontaze Burfict is no longer on the NFL’s naughty list, as the NFL transaction wire showed his season-long suspension has been lifted.

Anthony Galaviz of the Fresno Bee shared this information Monday evening.

Burfict was punished severely by the league after he was found to have committed two helmet-to-helmet hits against the Indianapolis Colts back in Week 4 of the 2019 season. The reason the league suspended him the rest of the season is that Burfict has an extensive history of egregious helmet-to-helmet hits and has an extensive disciplinary history to back that up.

Signed by Oakland to a one-year deal this past spring, Burfict will once again be a free agent. The question now is: Will any team sign him? Based on the support he got from Jon Gruden and the Raiders, it’s possible Burfict could end up playing in Las Vegas in 2020.
