NFL found Vontaze Burfict made a second helmet-to-helmet hit against Colts

Vontaze Burfict ejected, Vontaze Burfict dirty hit

As Vontaze Burfict prepares to appeal his 12-game suspension for a helmet-to-helmet hit against Jack Doyle, the NFL has discovered a second such illegal hit from the same game against the Indianapolis Colts, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

Rapoport notes the NFL sent Burfict a letter this week indicating it had found another helmet-to-helmet hit in the game.

The first hit, which sparked the 12-game suspension in the first place, was an absolutely unnecessary, utterly brutal hit in which Burfict lowered his head while Doyle was already on the ground, hitting the tight end on the crown of the helmet.

Burfict was ejected from that game, and since then Colts head coach Frank Reich has shared that he believes the punishment levied by the NFL absolutely fits the crime.

His agent told Josina Anderson of ESPN that the appeal will take place next Tuesday.

A player with an extensive history of taking vicious shots at opponents, Burfict has been suspended multiple times and lost over $5 million due to his infractions.
