Vegas Golden Knights first NHL team with gambling partnership

This is about the least surprising news we’ll read all year. Now that the United States Supreme Court has overturned a nation-wide ban on sports gambling, the first professional sports team in Las Vegas is taking full advantage.

Coming off a Stanley Cup Finals appearance in their inaugural season, the Las Vegas Golden Knights announced on Tuesday that they have partnered with William Hill sportsbook.

“We are always looking for innovative ways to engage different segments our fan base and provide a unique fan experience,” said Vegas Golden Knights President Kerry Bubolz, via the team’s official website. “Like the Vegas Golden Knights, William Hill US is a proud ‘Vegas Born’ organization. This partnership between a major professional team and a sports book operator is a historic, landmark agreement and we are delighted to be leading the way with William Hill in this space.”

Those who frequent Las Vegas or live in the surrounding areas know full well just how big of a power player William Hill is in the gambling industry. It makes perfect sense for the two sides to come to an agreement. It’s in this that the Golden Knights are the first NHL team with a gambling sponsorship.

As North America’s four major sports leagues start to realize the financial windfall that could come with said relationships, we’re going to see a whole lot more partnerships like this moving forward.
