Southern California quarterback Kedon Slovis departed Saturday’s road game against Washington State in the first quarter due to an apparent neck injury.
The school didn’t immediately divulge the nature of the injury but trainers examined Slovis’ head and neck after he was sacked by Washington State’s Andrew Edson with 12:56 left in the first quarter.
When the Trojans next had possession, Jaxson Dart was in at quarterback. Dart completed 12 of 18 passes for 156 yards, one touchdown and one interception in a first half that ended with USC trailing 14-7.
Slovis, 20, completed 1 of 2 passes for 8 yards before departing.
Slovis has thrown 50 touchdown passes in just 21 games (20 starts) for the Trojans. He has 5,904 yards and 17 interceptions.
