Few things in sports are as entertaining as a baseball manager arguing a call. If a middle aged man throwing a temper tantrum that an immature two-year old would envy doesn’t bring a smile to your face, then you’re simply made of stone, my friend. North Carolina State head coach Elliott Avent had an epic meltdown on Monday, which came after an ejection for arguing balls and strikes.
The highlight was unquestionably a stellar spin move that ended up with Avent getting by his blocker completely unscathed.

For our money, that looked more like an edge rusher (Dwight Freeney, perhaps?) than Braxton Miller, but reasonable men can disagree.
The entirety of Avent’s fantastic argument can be seen here.

That yields a couple thoughts.
One, Joe Mikulik is either incredibly proud, thinking that he needs to step his game up, or both. We’ve seen some epic arguments from Mikulik, but even he’s never shown the determination that Avent showed with that spin move. Keep your eyes peeled for a response.
Two, how tall is that home plate umpire? Avent seemed to be roughly the same height as the other umpires, but he had to stretch out to look into the home plate umpire’s chin. That guy may have missed his calling as a rim protector in basketball.
The good news for Avent is that despite his ejection and the tight strike zone, his team won by a comfortable 8-1 margin over Coastal Carolina.
