It had been almost a year since Randy Costa took to the Octagon and defeated Boston Salmon during UFC on ESPN 6 last October. Apparently, the 26-year-old bantamweight fighter did not want to spend too much time going up against Journey Newsom in Las Vegas Saturday afternoon.
Check out Costa knock Newsom out with a brutal head kick early in Round 1.
We have already seen some pretty awesome stuff at the Apex, even before the headliner gets going in Las Vegas. But this takes the cake.
Costa’s leg kick had Newsom down for the count. It also forced the referee on hand, Mark Smith, to call it early. We can’t blame him.
Those fighters watching the bout were also pretty excited about what they saw from Costa in just his third ever UFC fight.
Costa now moves to 2-1 in his UFC career while Newsom falls to 0-2-1.
