The performance we’ve seen from LSU quarterback and Heisman candidate Joe Burrow thus far this season has some rethinking the top of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Couple that with injury concerns surrounding Alabama signal caller Tua Tagovailoa, and this is magnified even further.
Despite that, Tua is still the narrow favorite to be the No. 1 pick next April (via Bet Online).
- Tua Tagovailoa: 2/3
- Joe Burrow: 2/1
- Jake Fromm: 6/1
- Jusin Herbert: 6/1
- Chase Young: 14/1
The only non-quarterback on this list is Young, who continues to dominate as an edge rusher for Ohio State. Young has tallied 10.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks in just seven games this season.
He’s still a huge long shot. The NFL’s two remaining winless teams, the Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals, need franchise quarterbacks.
Miami has tanked big time this season and was mentioned as a potential landing spot for Tua as early as last year.
As of right now, it seems to be between Tua and Burrow for the top pick. Jake Fromm’s struggles in an upset loss to South Carolina earlier this month raised questions about his pro prospects.
And while Herbert is seen as your prototypical drop back quarterback, pre-draft questions will be raised about his level of competition in the Pac-12.
