Update: The Buffalo Bills fear Tre’Davious White suffered a torn Achilles in Sunday’s win over the Miami Dolphins. If confirmed, he’ll be lost for the season. An MRI on Monday will give us a final conclusion.
Buffalo Bills All-Pro cornerback Tre’Davious White was off to a tremendous start to the 2023 season, his first fully-healthy campaign since suffering a torn ACL back in 2021. Or so we thought.
In what has to be considered terrible news for the star cornerback and his team, White went down to a non-contact injury in the second half of Sunday’s big game against the Miami Dolphins.
White immediately threw his helmet in disgust and was seen with tears in his eyes as he was carted off the field.
Almost immediately, the Bills ruled White out for the remainder of the game and indicated that he was being evaluated for an Achilles’ injury. This is not what the Super Bowl contenders or their best defensive player want to hear right now. Obviously, an MRI will likely confirm what the Bills fear. A torn Achilles’ would cost White the remainder of the 2023 season.
Tre’Davious White stats (2023): 9 tackles, 1 pass defended, 1 INT, 76.3 QB rating allowed
In returning from the aforementioned ACL injury last season, White was about as good as he’s been in Buffalo. The former first-round pick from LSU yielded a 54.5% completion and 75.8 QB rating when targeted. He had not allowed a QB rating of even 80 in any of his first five NFL seasons.
We will have further updates on White’s status moving forward. For now, Buffalo is looking at its third consecutive win after opening the season with a loss. That’s the only good news coming out of Western New York Sunday afternoon.
