Travis Kelce is a shoo-in for the Canton Pro Football Hall of Fame once his NFL career ends. The 35-year-old may be nearing the end of his rope.

Kelce, who arrived as the 63rd overall selection in the 2013 NFL Draft as a third-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs, has spent his entire 12-year career with the same team. There’s no indication that he’d ever want to play anywhere else, yet after losing Super Bowl LIX, he may not return to the Chiefs in 2025 either.

The Kansas City Chiefs were a win away from becoming the first team in NFL history to three-peat as Super Bowl champions. Yet, now that their dream is dead, Chiefs players are going through a rollercoaster of emotions.

That includes four-time All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce, who’s coming off his least productive season since his rookie year. Kelce still recorded 823 yards and three touchdowns during the regular season, which is solid production for any NFL tight end. Yet, we’re used to Kelce producing 1,000-yard seasons, like he’s done in seven out of his 12 years in the league.

Nevertheless, after a year that was filled with controversy and criticism, Kelce is now pondering retirement.

“I’m gonna take some time to figure it out. And I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back that it’s gonna be a wholehearted decision and I’m not half-assing it, and I’m fully here for them.”

Kelce on his Kansas City Chiefs future

Kelce has long been one of, if not the best tight end in the NFL, and he was still pretty good in 2024, yet now the 10-time Pro Bowler may be calling it quits. Or maybe not. We’ll all have to wait and see what his next move is.
