Top NFL draft prospect Nick Bosa underwent surgery

Ohio State knew it would be without star defensive end Nick Bosa in Week 4, but the prized NFL draft prospect will be sidelined for a while longer.

On 97.1 The Fan, head coach Urban Meyer revealed Bosa underwent surgery for a core muscle injury, per Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors. There is no timetable for a return.

Bosa exited the Buckeyes’ victory over TCU due to abdominal and groin issues.

The standout junior was off to a tremendous start this season, having recorded 14 total tackles with six for loss and four sacks. Bosa has also forced one fumble, recovered one for a touchdown and pounced on another.

Unfortunately for Ohio State, the defense must continue without Bosa for the foreseeable future. No one player can replace his presence, but the Buckeyes will lean on rising star Chase Young for a larger impact.

As long as Bosa avoids a major setback in his recovery, though, the surgery should cause no major detriment to his first-round draft profile.
