Tiger Woods has had a difficult time battling back from the career-altering leg injury he suffered in a car crash last year. And the recovery from it has led to a couple more surgeries on the limb recently.
This week was supposed to see Tiger Woods’ triumphant return to competitive golf at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas. However, on Monday it was revealed that the PGA Tour legend was pulling out of the tournament, but would still appear at the event.
On Tuesday, Woods explained that plantar fasciitis was the cause of his removal from the Hero World Challenge. Furthermore, the foot injury was a by-product of his ongoing recovery from his leg injury. However, in speaking about the injury he suffered in a car wreck in February 2021, Woods also revealed that he recently had two more surgeries on his reconstructed right lower limb.

Woods declined to give further details on the what and when of the recent procedures during a press conference in the Bahamas.

During his presser, Woods said that his plantar fasciitis would require one or two months to fully heal. However, he still plans to play in a couple of events next month, including The Match with world No. 1 Rory McIlroy, and the PNC Championship with his son Charlie.
Woods admitted he can take all of his shots without issue, it is just walking that is a problem at the moment. However, at those two events in December, he will be allowed greater use of a golf cart from hole to hole.
“When you’ve got plantar fasciitis, the only thing you can do is rest and try and stretch that out as best as possible, but it’s rest. How do you rest when you’re hosting a tournament? You know, it’s hard, so this will be a tough week. The [PNC] will be a very easy week. Charlie will just hit all the shots and I’ll just get the putts out of the hole, so pretty easy there. But other than that, in The Match we’re playing in, we’re flying in carts.”

The surgeries may explain why Tiger Woods, 46, has sat out for much of 2022 following his appearance at the 150th Open Championship in July.
