The Houston Texans missed out on Patrick Mahomes so they did the next best thing: traded up to the 12th pick and took Clemson quarterback DeShaun Watson. In exchange, the Browns nabbed Houston’s first rounder this year and their first rounder next season.
Cleveland trades pick and Osweiler to Houston… I kid, I kid.

The Texans desperately needed a quarterback, so it’s tough to criticize them for this. In all, Watson might not have been their man. But the Texans could not go into next year with Tom Savage under center.
As for Cleveland, the Browns likely wanted Mitch Trubisky or felt it was appropriate to wait until next season for a quarterback. They now hold Houston’s first rounder next season along with their second rounder from the Brock Osweiler trade. And, for now, the tank is still on.
