Houston Texans wide receiver Steven Sims was just brought up to the active roster from the practice squad ahead of Saturday’s NFL Divisional Playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens.
It did not take the former Kansas star too long to make an impact. With Houston trailing 10-3 in the second quarter, Sims found himself returning a punt from his own 33-yard line. That’s when he put up a game-changing 67-yard punt return for a touchdown.

This was absolutely huge for a Texans team that had struggled on offense throughout the first quarter. C.J. Stroud and Co. had put up a total of 97 yards and four first downs through the first 27 minutes of the game.
It also has to burn Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, who made his name known as a special teams coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles prior to becoming Baltimore’s head coach back in 2008.
As for Steven Sims, he only appeared in three games for the Houston Texans during the regular season, catching all of three passes. He also had just four punt returns during that span.
Talk about a random player making a huge impact for the upstart Texans.
