Injured Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger took time out of his day early Christmas morning to push back against reports that his elbow injury will force the future Hall of Famer into retirement.

Through a Twitter account ran by one of his handlers, Big Ben had this to say.

“P.S. Contrary to recent reports out there about my football future and my ‘uncertainty’ about playing again, I am working hard and am more determined than ever to come back stronger and better than ever next year,” the tweet read.

This comes on the heels of reports that Roethlisberger was worried that his UCL injury might cost the quarterback the remainder of his career.

Said injury occurred back in Week 2 and is normally limited to baseball players. It’s not yet known whether Roethlisberger will be able to return to throwing, let alone to regular football action.

Despite this, he’s working hard to return to the gridiron.

Pittsburgh boasts an 8-7 record with Big Ben sidelined to injury. It needs to win on Sunday and get some help in order to earn a spot in the playoffs.
