The Dallas Stars extended the contract of general manager Jim Nill through the 2025-26 season on Monday.

Nill, 65, is entering his 11th season in the job. Under his oversight, the Stars have amassed a 403-280-98 record and six appearances in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

“Jim has proven himself to be one of the best general managers in the NHL,” Stars owner Tom Gaglardi said. “He has meticulously built a team through free agency, trades and the NHL Draft that’s among the best in the League, while also ensuring that the Stars are championship contenders for years to come. He’ll be able to continue his vision of working toward our goal of bringing another Stanley Cup to the state of Texas.”

After the 2022-23 season, Nill won the Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year award. The Stars finished 47-21-14 (108 points) last season, tallying their highest point total since 2015-16. They lost to the Vegas Golden Knights in the Western Conference finals in six games.
