Defenseman Thomas Chabot and forwards Zach Sanford and Chris Tierney were placed in the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol by the Ottawa Senators on Monday.

The Senators recalled defenseman Michael Del Zotto from Belleville of the American Hockey League, and placed them on the active roster. They also shuffled forward Scott Sabourin from the AHL club to the taxi squad.

Ottawa (9-18-2), which has nine players in the protocol, is scheduled to return to action on Thursday against the host Seattle Kraken.

Chabot’s 16 assists are three shy of the team lead, while the 24-year-old’s 17 points rank fourth on the list. Drake Batherson leads the team in both assists (19) and points (28).

Sanford and Tierney, both 27, each have five goals and two assists in 29 games this season.
