Seattle Mariners outfielder Kyle Lewis was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a small tear in right meniscus.

Lewis will be out for an extended period, manager Scott Servais said. The club has not said if he’ll undergo surgery.

It’s the second IL stint for Lewis this season.

The Mariners also activated starting left-handed pitcher Marco Gonzales from the injured list. Gonzales, 29, gets the start Tuesday night against Oakland after being out since late April with a forearm strain.

The Mariners recalled outfielder Taylor Trammell from Triple-A Tacoma to take Lewis’ spot on the roster. The team also optioned right-hander Robert Dugger to make room for Gonzales.

Lewis, 25, left Monday night’s game before the ninth inning after running down a fly ball and making an awkward leap in the eighth. Lewis started the season on the IL after sustaining a bone bruise during spring training. He made his debut April 20 after missing three weeks.

Jarred Kelenic moved over from left field to replace Lewis in center, and the rookie figures to get most of the time in center until Lewis returns. Trammell and Jake Fraley will get opportunities to play in left field.

Trammell, 23, was hitting .384 with six home runs in Tacoma after 27 games with the Mariners.

The reigning AL Rookie of the Year, Lewis is batting .246/.333/.292 with five home runs and 11 RBIs in 36 games.
