Seattle Kraken announce inaugural preseason schedule

The expansion Seattle Kraken announced their six-game preseason schedule Friday, including three “home” games to be played in arenas located across the state of Washington.

The Kraken will play at three Western Hockey League facilities, including the preseason opener on Sept. 26 against the Vancouver Canucks at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.

Seattle also will play host to the Edmonton Oilers on Oct. 1 at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, and the Calgary Flames on Oct. 2 at accesso ShoWare Center in Kent.

“This gives us an opportunity to partner with the WHL teams, celebrate hockey across our region and grow this beautiful game,” Kraken CEO Tod Leiweke said in a team release. “We couldn’t be more excited for these games and then to open Climate Pledge Arena.”

Seattle’s preseason road games will be at Edmonton (Sept. 28), at Calgary (Sept. 29) and at Vancouver (Oct. 5).

The Kraken are coached by Dave Hakstol, while Ron Francis is the general manager. The team will be part of the Western Conference’s Pacific Division.
