Seahawks list Marshawn Lynch atop depth chart before Week 17

Seahawks sign Marshawn Lynch

The Seattle Seahawks brought back running back Marshawn Lynch this week following a myriad of season-ending losses at his position. Now, just days after returning to the Seahawks, Lynch is already back atop the team’s depth chart.

On the team’s Week 17 depth chart listed on their official website, Lynch is Seattle’s top running back with Robert Turbin right behind him. Travis Homer, the only running back on the roster before the week, is listed as the team’s third-string running back.

It’s been over a year since Lynch last played in the NFL. He played in 2018 for the Oakland Raiders with his last game action coming on Oct. 14. Suddenly, he’s gone from enjoying retirement to potentially playing a significant role in Seattle’s offense on Sunday Night Football against the San Francisco 49ers.

While depth charts on team sites are posted by media personnel with the organization, the Seahawks are paying Lynch more than $60,000 for a reason. The team will need a spark for Sunday’s pivotal game and nothing would get CenturyLink Field more fired up than seeing Lynch carry the football and unleash “Beast Mode” on San Francisco’s defense.
