Marshawn Lynch will receive surprisingly meager amount for Week 17

Running back Marshawn Lynch answered the call when the Seattle Seahawks, in a desperate situation at running back, needed to bring more talent in for a critical Week 17 game. After agreeing to a deal earlier this week, Lynch’s sudden availability for Sunday’s game will yield a surprisingly low amount, considering his iconic status and history.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Lynch will receive $60,588 in Week 17 and receive whatever playoff share the team receives based off how far they make it in the upcoming playoffs.

Of course, Lynch will have another opportunity to cash in on his surprising return to the NFL. He filed a trademark for the term “Beast Quake” and is selling “Unfinished Business” and “Back in Action” apparel on his site, which he will receive a significant share of.

Obviously, Lynch isn’t doing this for the money. He reportedly lived off endorsement deals during his NFL career and still has saved the money from his salaries. The 33-year-old clearly has unfinished business with the Seahawks and is hopeful that a return can lead to one more Super Bowl.
