Veteran left-handed reliever Jose Alvarez agreed to a one-year, $1.15 million deal with the San Francisco Giants on Saturday.
The deal includes a $1.5 million club option for 2022. Alvarez will receive $100,000 if the Giants decline it.

Alvarez compiled a 1.42 ERA in eight appearances with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2020 before his season ended due to a testicular contusion.
Alvarez was pitching against the Toronto Blue Jays on Aug. 20 when he was hit in the groin area by a 105-mph line drive off the bat of Lourdes Gurriel Jr.
Alvarez got to his feet after he was hit and was able to throw out Gurriel at first base with an underhanded toss before leaving the game. He was placed on the injured list the following day.

The 31-year-old Alvarez owns a 15-22 record with a 3.59 ERA in eight seasons (359 games, seven starts) with the Detroit Tigers (2013), Los Angeles Angels (2014-18) and Phillies.
Right-hander Jordan Humphreys, 24, was designated for assignment and claimed by the San Diego Padres to open a roster spot for Alvarez.
