The San Francisco 49ers are signing free-agent wide receiver Marqise Lee after a weekend tryout, NFL Network reported Monday.

A corresponding move would need to be made by the 49ers as they’re at the 90-player limit.

Lee, 29, hasn’t played since the 2019 season after spending five seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He played in just six games in 2019, recording three catches for 18 yards for the Jags before another knee injury cut short that season.

Lee opted out of the 2020 season after signing a one-year deal with the New England Patriots last year. The Pats cut him in March.

Lee has 174 receptions for 2,184 yards and eight touchdowns in 59 games (30 starts) for the Jags. He played a full 16 games just once, in 2016. Lee missed the entire 2018 season after tearing his ACL in a preseason game.

The Jags selected Lee in the second round of the 2014 draft out of Southern Cal.
