We saw a first-hand view of just how well San Francisco 49ers fans travel during Super Bowl Opening Night on Monday.

It was clear that 49ers fans were in Las Vegas in force in preparation for their team taking on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday inside Allegiant Stadium. In fact, the back-and-forth between 49ers fans and Chiefs players made for an electric atmosphere.

Does this mean that San Francisco will have a major home-field advantage when the game kicks off Sunday afternoon? Data certainly points in this direction.

According to Vivid Seats, curret projections conclude that there will be a 60% crowd advantage for the 49ers with roughly 40% of other fans representing the Chiefs.

“Analyzing its historic data insights and current ticket sales, Vivid Seats Fan Forecast is predicting a 60% crowd advantage for the San Francisco 49ers, with Chiefs fans making up 40%. Vivid Seats’ Fan Forecast uses an algorithm that explores its proprietary data to project which team’s fans will show up with more support in the crowd,” press release from Vivid Seats.

Per Vivid Seats data, San Francisco had the highest road-crowd average among all 32 NFL teams with an average of 48% of the crowd this season. It wasn’t necessarily close in comparison to the competition.

  • San Francisco 49ers 48%
  • Dallas Cowboys: 39%
  • Philadelphia Eagles: 34%
  • Pittsburgh Steelers: 31%
  • Buffalo Bills: 29%
  • Kansas City Chiefs: 28%

This doesn’t necessarily mean anything in the grand scheme of things. The Chiefs took to that road-warrior mentality in going back and forth with 49ers fans on Monday. They are seasoned pros and boast a ton of experience in the Super Bowl.

What we do know is that the biggest online searches for game tickets came from the state of California with Nevada second and Florida third. Missouri was not in the top five.

It’s going to be incredibly interesting to view the scene inside Allegiant Stadium when Super Bowl LVIII kicks off Sunday afternoon. We might want to prepare for a take over of 49ers fans.
