The Sacramento Kings are one of the teams who have been talked about the most when it comes to potential trades. Recently, they have been linked to Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma in a trade surrounding Buddy Hield.
According to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, Sacramento is looking to move off both Hield and fellow former first-round pick Marvin Bagley III as well as the ninth pick in the coming 2021 NBA Draft.
“League sources say the Kings continue to be active in shopping this pick, Buddy Hield, and Marvin Bagley in separate deals,” the report read. “A Sacramento shake-up seems inevitable, but keeping this choice provides a range of options.”
Whether trades materialize here within the next several hours remains to be seen. But it’s clear that Kings general manager Monte McNair is looking to be active as the organization attempts to end its long playoff drought. Below, we look at three trade options with the ninth pick.
Sacramento Kings find a veteran big man for ninth pick

There’s been talk that Indiana is now willing to move off Turner with the Golden State Warriors coming up in rumors surrounding the elite defensive big man. Why wouldn’t Sacramento put its hat into the ring? The team is in need of low-post help. And in reality, bringing Turner into the mix wouldn’t prevent the Kings from re-signing Richaun Holmes. It would actually represent a great one-two punch in the low-post with the likes of De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton doing their thing in the backcourt.
From the Pacers’ perspective, the idea here would be to add another lottery selection as a way to find a true star for new head coach Rick Carlisle. Indiana is not going to into rebuild mode after a disappointing 2020-21 season. Indiana would then look to package the ninth pick, 13th selection and either Bagley III or T.J. Warren for a starter-caliber player.
Sacramento Kings trade for Pascal Siakam

This would be the ideal scenario for Sacramento. Imagine them being able to team Haliburton and Fox up with a true star in the frontcourt. In reality, the Kings might just have the assets to make this work if reports that Toronto has put Siakam on the trade block are true.
From Toronto’s perspective, starting a new with somewhat of a rebuild might make the most sense. In this scenario, it adds the ninth pick to go with the team’s original No. 4 selection while bringing in two players who could take part in the rebuild or be flipped for other assets.
Sacramento Kings trade for Ben Simmons
Obviously, a Simmons trade has been the talk of California’s capital city. Unfortunately for Sacramento, it won’t be able to acquire the reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year finalist in a straight two-team swap. Rather, the Kings would likely have to get another squad involved while offering up the ninth selection as part of a trade package.
Recent reports indicate that the Oklahoma City Thunder have surprisingly put star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on the table in trade talks. Just recently, the Detroit Pistons turned down a trade that would have sent them Gilgeous-Alexander and the sixth pick for the No. 1 selection. With that in mind, Oklahoma City could get involved here with the Philadelphia 76ers likely being interested in adding its star guard. Here’s a look at how a three-team trade could look.
